Schools in Puducherry will reopen after summer vacations on June 14, 2023, according to an official announcement by Puducherry CM N Rangaswamy. Due to the ongoing heatwave in Puducherry, the school summer vacations were extended earlier.

School summer vacations were extended to June 7, 2023, according to the previously released schedule, but due to rising heatwave conditions, the government decided to further extend school summer vacations. 

Puducherry CM stated to the media that because the heatwave in the union territory continues, the government has decided to postpone the date of school reopening to June 14, 2023.

According to reports, the government received representations from various sections requesting an extension of summer vacations due to the lack of respite in weather conditions, prompting the government to postpone the date for school reopening to June 14, 2023.

Schools in Tamil Nadu will reopen for students in grades 6 to 12 on June 12, 2023, and for students in grades 1 to 5 on June 14, 2023. According to IMD heatwave in parts of Tamil Nadu is expected to be high till June 11, 2023.
