Union Minister Parshottam Rupala recently began the Sagar Parikrama Yatra Phase-V, an ambitious programme of the Government of India. This phase intends to solve the issues that fishermen and other stakeholders confront by encouraging economic upliftment through various government programmes.
Launching The Journey In Karanja, Raigad District
The Sagar Parikrama Yatra Phase-V was inaugurated in Karanja, a coastal town in Maharashtra's Raigad district. Around 6,000 fishermen, fish farmers, and notable visitors took part in the the event, emphasising the significance of this endeavour.
Coastal Regions Exploration
The Sagar Parikrama Yatra Phase-V covers a large area, including various coastal regions. The itinerary includes stops to the Gateway of India, Karanja in Raigad District, Mirkarwada in Ratnagiri District, Devgad in Sindhudurg District, Malvan, Vasco, Mormugaon, and Canacona in South Goa. This detailed investigation intends to promote connectedness and highlight the importance of these areas in trade, agriculture, and education.
Resolving Issues And Promoting Economic Growth
The determination to address the issues encountered by the fishing community and other stakeholders along the coastal belt is at the heart of the Sagar Parikrama quest. The government intends to help them economically by implementing several programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Progressive fisherman, particularly those from coastal areas, will earn certifications and sanctions in connection with these initiatives, recognising their contributions and giving assistance for their growth.
The Journey's Development And Impact
The Sagar Parikrama programme has now completed four phases with the beginning of Phase-V. This remarkable endeavour covers 19 locations in Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The programme has received support from all stakeholders by incorporating varied states and union territories, showing its major impact on coastal communities.
