On May 14, Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar unveiled the statue of the late Nathuram Mirdha in Nagaur, Rajasthan, marking a significant occasion. The ceremony honoured Nathuram Mirdha, a prominent figure in Indian politics and society, for his outstanding contributions and accomplishments.

Nathuram Mirdha was a multitalented person who excelled in a variety of fields. He was a notable parliamentarian, freedom fighter, social reformer, and leader of the farmers. On October 20, 1921, Mirdha was born in Kuchera, Nagaur district, Rajasthan. His life was devoted to serving his country and improving society.

Mirdha's participation in farmer leadership was impressive. Under the direction of Chhotu Ram, he played a pivotal role in planning a significant gathering of farmers in Jodhpur and joined the "Kisan Sabha," an organisation established by Baldev Ram Mirdha. As its Secretary beginning in 1946, Mirdha made a significant contribution to the cause of farmers.

Nathuram Mirdha had a distinguished political career. In the 1952 Merta City constituency assembly election, he received a resounding victory. He participated in the Lok Sabha and Rajasthan Legislative Assembly throughout his career. During his political career, he worked to improve Rajasthan's agricultural and cooperative sectors, having a long-lasting effect on the state's and its citizens' welfare.

Contributions To The Agricultural Sector

Mirdha's commitment to agriculture and farmer well-being extended beyond his political career. He implemented several schemes in the interest of farmers as Chairman of the National Agricultural Prices Commission, aiming to improve their livelihoods and ensure a fair agricultural system.
