In Russia, Victory Day commemorates the German surrender in World War II.
Victory Day Parade In Moscow
The day is observed as the anniversary of Russia's World War II victory. On this day, a military parade is conducted in Moscow's Red Square. Since 1995, this parade has taken place on May 9th. "Moscow Victory Day Parade" is the name of this parade.
Only after the Soviet Union's disintegration in 1991 did the Victory Day Parade become an annual event.
Since 1990, Red Square has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After defeating the Nazi forces, the Soviet Armed Forces performed a military display in Red Square in 1945. It was the longest and largest military parade in Red Square's history. The procession featured almost 40,000 soldiers and 1,850 military vehicles.
On June 24, 1945, this parade was organised. It took place a month after the German commanders surrendered. On May 9, 1945, the Germans surrendered.
Document Of German Surrender
Alfred Jodi, the German Chief of Staff, signed the Instrument of Surrender on May 7, 1945. On May 9, 1945, another capitulation agreement was signed on the outskirts of Berlin. Active operations of the German army were prohibited under both surrender papers.
