Mana village in Uttarakhand has recently made headlines. The central government recently erected a signboard at the entrance to this village along the Line of Actual Control, or LAC, that reads 'India's first village' to emphasise the village's significance. During a visit to the village in October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the country's border communities are not the last, as is widely assumed.

Mana village is located near Badrinath, a popular pilgrimage place in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. The community rose to attention after being renamed as part of the government's 'Vibrant community' initiative, which was revealed in Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget statement in Parliament. The scheme's goal is to build settlements in 46 border blocks made up of 19 districts, four states, and one union territory.

Mana Village's Height And Population

Mana village is located on the banks of the Saraswati River, approximately 3,219 meters above sea level. The settlement is one of the oldest in the region and is home to the Bhotiyas, a Mongol tribe. The locals are recognised for their warmth and uncomplicated way of life. Mana village is only open to tourists from May to early November because the area is inaccessible until April due to severe snowfall.
