According to the IIM Act 2017, the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has re-appointed Professor Debashis Chatterjee as the Institute's Director for another five years. Professor Chatterjee's current tenure began in June 2018, when IIM Kozhikode became the first IIM to appoint its own Director.
Professor Chatterjee previously served as Senior Professor and Dean (International Relations) at IIM Lucknow, as well as Director General of IMI Delhi. He was a professor of leadership at Harvard University as well as the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Calcutta, Lucknow, and Kozhikode.
He was also instrumental in admitting more than 50% of women to the flagship Post Graduate Programme, a feat IIM Kozhikode accomplished twice. He has been awarded the Fulbright Fellowship twice, once for Pre-Doctoral and once for Post-Doctoral work at Harvard University.
