Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Launched An Initiative At IIT Madras To Connect 1 Lakh Students To Electronic Sciences

M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) initiative on April 5, 2023which connects one lakh government school students to electronic devices. The CM also distributed electronic kits developed by IIT Madras to government school students. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister, and Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, also attended the event.

The 'Anaivarukkum IITM' (IITM for all) initiative's STEM outreach program aims to connect one lakh rural Tamil Nadu students.

TN CM, while addressing the event said, “I am happy to announce an important new scheme called ‘Thiranari Thervu Thittam’ during this event. The objective is to encourage and help Tamil Nadu Government schools students to continue their higher education without hurdles.

He went on to say that 1,000 students in class 10 will be chosen for this scheme, and they will be guided by connecting them to higher education institutions.

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh thanked the state CM for allowing government school students to learn from a reputed institute like IIT Madras. He said, “I thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru MK Stalin for enabling Government School students to learn from a prestigious institute like IIT Madras…Each one of these kits will enable students to perform multiple experiments.

The Anaivarukkum IITM vision of IIT Madras is to instill scientific and technological zeal in young students studying in rural Tamil Nadu, which is also a national need. This initiative also encourages creative and innovative thinking about societal issues.
