In recent years, Russia has pursued a new foreign policy strategy aimed at strengthening ties with countries such as India and China while encouraging greater cooperation and stability across Eurasia. This new approach is outlined in a policy document titled 'The Concept of Russian Federation Foreign Policy,' which was unveiled by President Vladimir Putin.

Emphasis On Ties With India And China

Russia is emphasizing strengthening ties with India and China under the new policy framework. Moscow regards these two countries as critical partners in the development of a stable and prosperous Eurasia. Russia seeks to expand bilateral trade as well as strengthen investment and technological ties with India. Furthermore, the two countries are collaborating to counter the destructive actions of "unfriendly states and their alliances." In the case of China, Russia is pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and increasing international coordination to ensure security, stability, and long-term development.

Eurasia's Objectives

Russia's ambition for Eurasia is to create a continental common space of peace, stability, mutual trust, development, and prosperity. To that end, the country is promoting the broad integration contour of the Greater Eurasian Partnership. This entails bringing together the potential of all states, regional organizations, and Eurasian associations based on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Furthermore, Russia is collaborating with the SCO to ensure Eurasia's security and promote its long-term development.

Participation In International Organizations

Russia is also active in a number of international organizations, including the BRICS, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the European Union (EU), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the RIC. Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa comprise the BRICS group of five major emerging national economies. The CIS is a regional intergovernmental organization comprised of post-Soviet republics in Eurasia. Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia form the EAEU, a political and economic union. The CSTO is a military alliance comprised of several former Soviet republics, including Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Finally, the RIC is a strategic alliance formed by Russia, India, and China.
