A computerised lottery system will be used to select students for the Right to Education (RTE). The RTE Act of 2009 guarantees compulsory and free education to children aged 6 to 14 years. The RTE Act also aims to educate all children, particularly those from EWS and disadvantaged groups.
According to the Right to Education Act of 2009, private schools in Tamil Nadu and all other states are required to reserve 25% of their seats for children from economically disadvantaged families and groups. According to the reports, these seats will be filled through a random selection or lottery process.
