Goa has been experiencing heat waves for the past two days. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning, emphasising the seriousness of these heat waves. Given the gravity of the situation, the Goa Education Department has changed the school schedule. The timings have been changed for March 9 and 10, 2023.
According to the PTI, the state's director of education, Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde, issued a circular in which he stated that lessons on March 9 and 10, 2023 would only last until noon because the IMD predicted that the heat wave would last one more day.

IMD Goa Alerts Against Heatwaves
According to IM Goa, the maximum temperature over Goa is likely to remain 4-6 °C higher than normal on the 8 and 9 of March due to the strengthening of easterly winds, clear sky conditions, and delay in setting time of sea breeze.
The persistence of these conditions is likely to meet the criteria for heat waves in the region on March 8 and 9. The following are the heat wave conditions over coastal stations:
The maximum temperature exceeds or equals 37°C.
The maximum temperature deviates from normal by more than 4.5°C.
If the above-mentioned conditions persist for two consecutive days, the second day is considered to have realised the heat wave conditions.
Heat Waves Expected At Isolated Places In Goa
It should be noted that heat wave conditions are likely in isolated locations across North and South Goa on March 8 and 9, 2023. Maximum temperatures are expected to fall gradually by 2-3 degrees beginning on March 11, 2023.
