The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a master's degree programme in migration and diaspora. The programme will be available in both open and distance learning modes (ODL Mode). Interested candidates can learn more about the PG programme by visiting the official website.

The curriculum will cover migration processes, diaspora contributions to development, the development-migration nexus, policy choices, planning and research, legal requirements for cross-border movement, and human trafficking challenges. Professionals in the United Nations, foreign affairs, tourism, cultural associations, and development will also benefit from it.

Candidates will be given hard and soft copies of the study material, as well as interactive counselling sessions and audio-visual coursework. The programme will expand opportunities for candidates in external and foreign affairs ministries, diplomatic missions, United Nations (UN) organisations, civil societies, and non-government organisations.

According to an official statement from IGNOU ,“The programme aims at developing knowledge and understanding for professionals who intend to work in the field of Migration Governance, Diaspora engagement, Human trafficking and labour flow.”

• The programme will be delivered in a modular format. After completing the first year of study (courses), candidates will be eligible to receive a Post Graduate Diploma in Migration and Diaspora (PGDMIDI).

• The programme will allow for lateral entry and exit.

• The course fee is Rupees 12,000

• Duration: 2 years minimum, 4 years maximum

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university is required for eligibility.

• Study Materials- Print and Digital Program Specifications- 80 Credits

• Enrollment is expected to be around 100 per cycle
