The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2023 exam is set for May 7, 2023. There are several medical students who may want to study for an MBBS degree abroad. The good news for such students is that NEET UG scores are accepted as an eligibility criterion for admissions in a number of countries. Here is a list of the countries:
Russia
For Indian students interested in pursuing a medical degree, Russia is a popular choice. According to Indian government data, there were 18,039 Indian students in Russia in 2022, with 4515 students having appeared for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) and 1119 candidates passing the screening test in 2021, according to the National Board of Examination (NBE).
Several Russian universities state that candidates must be NEET qualified (50 percentiler) to be eligible for an MBBS degree in Russia. According to 'Study in Russia' official website, there are approximately 70 universities in Russia that train doctors, including both specialised medical educational organisations and special medical faculties in universities with diverse educational profiles. Tver State Medical University, Stavropol State Medical University, Volgograd State Medical University, Smolensk State Medical University, Kazan State Medical University, and others are among the most popular MBBS colleges in Russia.
Kazakhstan
In 2021, 2528 candidates took the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), and 558 passed the screening test. Indian candidates must have a NEET qualifier score to be eligible for MBBS degree admissions at Kazakhstan-based universities.
Some of the popular medical colleges in Kazakhstan are Karaganda Medical University, Jsc National Medical University, State Medical University Semey, West Kazakhstan State Medical University (Named After Marat Ospanov), Caspian University International School of Medicine, and more.
Poland
Falling in almost the same geographical location, along with Russia and Ukraine, Poland is a popular destination for Indian students. According to Indian government data, there were 5,000 Indian students in Poland in 2022.
To be eligible to apply for an MBBS programme in Poland, Indian candidates must have passed the NEET exam.
Some of the popular medical universities for Indian students include Collegium Medicum Jagiellonian University, Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Medical University of Gdansk, Medical University of Lublin, Medical University of Wroclaw, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Medical University of Silesia, University of Warmia and Mazury, Warsaw Medical Academy, Medical University of Lodz, and others.
Nepal
Nepal may not be a popular study abroad destination among medical aspirants of India, but it is known for affordable education. According to NBE data, a total of 1437 candidates took the FMGE 2021 exam, with 373 students passing.
Candidates must qualify for the listed entrance test, such as the MET (Medical Entrance Test), or receive a 50% percentile on NEET scores to study an MBBS course in the South Asian country.
Nepal is home to a number of medical colleges, including the College of Medical Sciences Bharatpur, Janaki Medical College, National Medical College Birgunj, Nepalgunj Medical College, Universal College of Medical Sciences, and others.
Bangladesh
Only 370 students from Bangladesh-based colleges passed the screening test out of 922 FMGE students in 2021. Even though Bangladesh is not widely known, Indian students are encouraged to apply for the First-year MBBS programme in Bangladesh following their NEET UG results. The typical cut-off for general category students is thought to be 715-117. However, each university has a different cut-offs.
The Institute of Applied Health Sciences Iahs, East West Medical College, Eastern Medical College Comilla, Bangladesh Medical College Bmsri, Community Based Medical College Bangladesh Cbmcb, Kumudini Womens Medical College, and others are among the popular medical colleges.
China
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, this Asian country was extremely popular for medical courses. According to NBE data, a total of 13,427 candidates applied for the FMGE exam in 2021, with 2580 passing the screening test.
Several Chinese universities, including Anhui Medical University, China Medical University, Dalian University, Shandong University, and others, accept NEET scores. Typically, universities require Indian candidates to have a NEET qualifier score, or a NEET score of 200-250.
