The Chinese government intends to construct a new railway line in the Aksai Chin region. The line will extend all the way to Pangong Lake. It will follow the Line of Actual Control very closely. The first phase of the railway line will be finished by 2025. China will build a railway line between Xiagtse and Pakhutso during this phase. The line is expected to be completed by 2035.
About The Railway Line
China recently proposed a medium-term and long-term railway plan for the Tibet region. This plan includes the Aksai chin railway line. China intends to expand Tibet's railway connections to 4000 kilometres under the plan. It is currently 1400 km. The new railway line will also cross the India-Nepal border. It will also pass through G219 NH.
G219 NH
It is a Chinese National Highway that connects the country's entire southern and western borders. It is 10,000 kilometres long. The highway's construction began in 2013 and is expected to be completed by 2030. When finished, it will be the world's longest NH. Prior to 2013, the highway linked Xinjiang and Tibet.
The New Railway Line And The 1962 War
Because of the G219 highway, India and China fought a war in 1962. This highway will be crossed by the new planned railway line.
