The University Grants Commission (UGC) proposed a plan that would allow students to use the libraries and labs available at various universities and colleges. The official statement states that any students enrolled in any of the UGC-approved colleges and universities would now have access to use both their own institution's library and laboratory as well as those of other colleges and universities.

Additionally, according to the plan, students from any college would be able to use sports facilities at universities other than the ones they are now studying. With the various interests of college students in mind, UGC has developed this significant recommendation so that numerous universities and colleges can share their necessary resources.

UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar said that the universities, colleges, and other Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) have decided to offer such amenities to students with mutual permission.

Facilities For College Students

According to the notice, educational institutions will also provide access to their lab, science room, computer lab, research, library, and e-library for students enrolled in other colleges or universities. Additionally, students will have access to the stadium, seminar room, playground, and other facilities.

The state universities will have the opportunity to effectively utilise the resources offered by the central universities and other higher educational institutions on the basis of these special guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission.

Additionally, the UGC will be entirely responsible for the expense of maintenance for these resources under this plan. The UGC Chairman further stated that any other resource-rich or capable educational institution that is present in the city may use its resources as a guest. Through this special scheme, students from guest institutions will also get the chance to study in other colleges' and universities' libraries. Students will have the opportunity to do research by visiting the labs there.

IITs and other famous engineering institutes can benefit from this in addition to central universities. The facilities of central universities are available to many state-level colleges and universities. For students enrolled in educational institutions with limited resources, this approach is anticipated to be particularly beneficial. In accordance with the guidelines, graduate and PhD students may utilise the services offered by other educational institutions from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
