The Pune Zilla Parishad's (ZP) Education Department has discovered that some schools in the state are functioning without legal approval from the government. According to reports, 13 English medium schools were operating illegally in the Pune area without the necessary permission from the government.

The Pune government will take action against this illegal practice as soon as possible. The Education Directorate has decided to close 13 illegal schools. In order to avoid educational losses, students from these schools will be adjusted and relocated to neighbouring schools. Furthermore, the Zilla Parishad's (ZP) primary education department has announced that these students may be admitted to ZP schools.

Education Department Orders

Previously, 43 unauthorized schools were exposed in a manner similar to these schools, and fines were imposed on the illegal schools. They did, however, continue to operate after that. The education administration has now directed that such unlawful schools be prosecuted by group education officials.

It is stated that if prompt action is not taken against these illegal schools, the educational future of schoolchildren will be jeopardised, and these schools have been ordered to return student payments. Students will be transferred to other local schools so that their education is not jeopardised. As a result, the students' education will not be disrupted.

School Fee Refund

Sandhya Gaikwad, Education Officer, Pune ZP, stated in an official statement that senior officers in the Education Department will take appropriate measures to ensure that students do not suffer educational losses. The ZP Education Department intends to terminate these unlicensed English medium schools, and all fees collected from students enrolled in these schools would be returned to them.

The state government has directed a group of education officers to file lawsuits against unlicensed schools. Since June 2022, these schools are considered to be illegal. Gaikwad declared that such schools will remain closed until they receive legal government clearance or consent. Schoolchildren will be adjusted as needed, and institutions will be held accountable for finishing the session. There are 13 English medium schools operating without a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, or the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Parents of students enrolled in these 13 illegal schools are currently concerned. For example, Mahesh Kulkarni is a parent whose son attends one of these institutions, and he believes that the student's transfer to another school, especially in the middle of the academic year, will have a negative impact on his education and that someone should be held accountable for this. Thousands of students would be impacted, and the state government should not have let such schools to function.
