Description

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) will conduct the National Law School - PhD (NLSAT PhD) 2023 Admission Test on April 30, 2023. The university offers  admission in PhD law and PhD interdisciplinary programs through NLSAT 2023. Candidates who wish to appear for the entrance exam can apply through the official website. Candidates can register for the exam by April 6, 2023, till 11:59 pm.

The duration of the NLSAT PhD is 150 minutes. It will consist of research aptitude marks and essays on relevant law-related topics/other disciples, each scoring 50 marks. Candidates must score more than 50% on the written test to qualify for the evaluation of the research proposal and to make an oral presentation to the expert panel.

Selection Process For NLSAT PhD

Candidates are selected based on the grades they received in the NLSAT PhD, research proposal, and oral presentation. In terms of weightage, NLSAT PhD carries 70%, research proposal 20% and oral presentation 10%.

Eligibility

The authorities have established different eligibility criteria for the PhD law and PhD interdisciplinary. Only eligible candidates can take admission in these streams.

Eligibility criteria for the PhD Law:

  • Candidates with a 5-year/10-semester/15-term law degree in a regular mode from a recognized university achieving a maximum of 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade ((70% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL , and persons with disabilities).

  • Candidates with a 3 year / 6 semester / 9 trisemester Bachelor of Laws (LLB) through the regular mode from a recognized university with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent mark. (70% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and persons with disabilities).

  • Candidates holding a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from a recognized university through the regular mode achieving an overall mark of at least 55% of marks or equivalent (50% of marks or equivalent in the case of SC, ST, OBC -NCL, persons with disabilities).

Eligibility criteria for the PhD Interdisciplinary:

  • Candidates in possession of a master's degree in any discipline with regular mode from a recognized university who achieve a total score of at least 55% of the marks or equivalent (50% of the marks or equivalent in the case of SC, ST, OBC-NCL and persons with disabilities).

  • Candidates who have qualified for the Chartered Accountants (CA) examination administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) and have been awarded membership together with an LLB degree.

  • Candidates who have qualified for the Company Secretaryship exam administered by the Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI)  and have been awarded ACS while having an LLB degree.

  • Candidates who hold a Master of Business Laws (MBL) from NLSIU with at least 4 CGPAs and a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
