Union Minister Subhas Sarkar, on January 14, 2023, stated that the government's goal is to transform the nation into a global knowledge superpower. This was said by Union Minister of State for Education Mr. Sarkar while he was speaking at the Indian Chamber of Commerce's fifth globalized education forum about the topic "Revisiting the idea of Internationalization - Global to Local." He stated, "Our mission is to make India a superpower in the educational sector as the country has formulated a multi-disciplinary education system having the internationally relevant curriculum which will help in generating employment."

"Today India has not only the potential to be the knowledge centre of the world with the highest number of educated youths, but it is the skill capital to take the country forward which can be accomplished by imparting education on global scale," the doctor-turned-minister stated. The Union Minister said that the National Education Policy 2020 will give faculty autonomy and attract international students to make India a global hub. "There is a demand and the central government is providing a forum to provide assistance to internatiomal students," he added.

He stated that the NEP 2020 brought about changes by curating a flexible curriculum and education system to provide students with a holistic education. Mr. Sarkar stated that 10 lakh students have left India to study abroad and 49,000 students have come to India to study in our educational institutions. The union minister went on to say that India is a popular destination for countries in SAARC and Africa in particular.

Mr. Sarkar stated, "Today India has a large number of capable youth, we have a skilled human resource capital who can become the engine of development of world," underscoring that India is currently on the cusp of internationalization of higher education, which encourages interaction with the diverse education system to hear about the best academic and research practices. The minister said that globalization is one of the most transformative forces that changed localization, pointing to the inclusion of several Indian higher education institutions in international rankings.

The Bankura MP, Mr. Sarkar, stated that the Narendra Modi government had always been open to reform, transformation, and constructive thought. He stated that India will one day be the global knowledge powerhouse and that prestigious Indian institutions are currently establishing offshore campuses as part of the globalization objective.
