For frequent travellers, having a strong passport might mean having better access to and mobility in foreign markets and economies. There is some positive news for holders of Indian passports according to the most recent Henley Passport Index, which rates passports according to their strength and mobility. India is currently at 85th place, two spots higher than 87th place from the previous year. An Indian passport bearer currently has visa-free entry to 59 countries, down from 60 last year, while Iraq and Afghanistan are the last two countries on the list.

The index defines the strongest passport as the number of countries that people with a passport can visit visa-free or visa-on-arrival. The following are the top ten strongest passports in the world-

Importance

Individuals with a strong passport may find it easier to travel internationally for business, tourism, and study. It can also provide individuals and businesses with greater access to foreign markets and economies.

Position Of India In The Index

India moved up two spots from last year's 87th position to 85th on the index. Despite having the fifth-largest economy in the world, Indian citizens may only travel to 59 other countries and access about 6.7% of the world's GDP, of which India's GDP makes up roughly half. Indian citizens no longer qualify for Serbian visa-free entry. Indian passport holders will no longer be permitted to visit the nation without a visa for 90 days starting January 1, 2023; instead, they must apply for a visa. 59 countries, including Bhutan, Indonesia, Macao, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Iran, and Qatar, do not require visas for bearers of Indian passports. Some nations demand visas upon arrival.

Henley and Partners, a global citizenship and residence advice company with offices in London, creates the Henley Passport Index. The index, which bills itself as the "original ranking of all passports in the world," is revised four times a year to reflect changes in visa regulations. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which oversees international airline cooperation, provides the information for it. The index compares the visa-free access of 199 different passports to 227 travel destinations and covers 227 destinations and 199 passports. If no visa is required, a score of 1 is assigned to that passport. The same is true if you can obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor's permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) upon arrival.
