India's first mobile solar roofing system has been exhibited at the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple complex in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) devised the 10 Photovoltaic PV Port system, which was manufactured by Servotech Power Systems Ltd of New Delhi. The devices were installed as part of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's plan to construct renewable energy cities around the country.

Servotech Power Systems Ltd (SPSL), a leading manufacturer of high-end solar products such as LEDs, oxygen concentrators, and EV charging equipment in New Delhi, created the PV Ports under the Make in India programme. The PV Port system is extremely cost-effective, requires little maintenance, has a 25-year shelf life, is easy to install by one person, and is well-suited to the Indian climate.
