Description
On Saturday, the Odisha government declared that summer vacation in schools would be reduced from 50 to 10 days. The decision was made with the best interests of pupils in mind, in order to assist them in catching up on their studies when schools were closed due to COVID-19. "The summer vacation will be limited and allowed for a shorter period from June 6 to June 16, 2022," according to a letter from the Department of School and Mass Education.
An official added that the summer vacation in schools, which used to last 50 days, will now last 10 days, and teaching hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. from May 1 to June 5, in order to avoid the summer heat. For the past two years, schools across the state have been closed due to COVID-induced lockdown. The kids were promoted to the next class without having to take any exams. Even while schools held online classes, they were unable to reach all pupils, and students in rural schools were unable to participate.
The announcement also stated that children in classes 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next class by April 20. From April 20 to April 30, students in grades 1 to 9 may apply for new admission or re-admission. According to the Board of Secondary Education of Odisha's new assessment policy, Class 9 students will be required to take the Summative Assessment-II Exam.
