Description
Overview
The first 10,000 purchasers will receive a buying incentive of 25% off the MRP up to Rs 5,500. An additional incentive of Rs 2,000 would be given to the first 1000 individual owners of e-cycles. The government would also grant a buying incentive of up to Rs 15,000 per vehicle to the first 5,000 buyers of e-cargo cycles to help e-commerce drivers and food delivery. With all of these incentives, Delhi has become the first state/UT in the country to promote e-cycling.
Getting rid of incentives
Buyers of cargo e-cycles and e-cycles will also receive scrapping incentives. For the purpose of deregistering and scrapping out-dated two-wheelers that are registered in Delhi, the incentive under the Scrapping Incentive would be up to Rs 3,000 per vehicle.
Why are these bonuses being offered?
These incentives are being offered in order to stimulate demand for e-cycles, which is desperately required. All of these incentives are part of the Delhi government's ambition to make the city the "EV Capital of India."
In Delhi, electric vehicles are on sale
To date, roughly 46,000 electric vehicles have been sold in Delhi under the EV policy. Delhi also provided 12.6 percent of all electric car sales in March 2022, making it the city with the largest contribution in electric vehicle sales.
