The Maharashtra government announced on Thursday the launch of a three-month online course designed by the state's health sciences university for medical students who have returned home from war-torn Ukraine after interrupting their studies. The digital content was created by the Nashik-based Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in collaboration with a private entity, Elsevier.
The study module, which is free of charge, has been launched by State Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh and MUHS Vice-Chancellor Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar (retd). "The MUHS created the digital content with the assistance of Elsevier. It is a free course for students who have recently returned from Ukraine. This is a temporary arrangement for students who do not currently have access to education "Ms Kanitkar stated. According to her, the MUHS has also developed a mobile application for the online learning module, which students can download on their phones and use to access the course material.
"Students interested in taking the online course must first register on the MUHS website. Students will not be charged a price for this course
"Due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, students pursuing medical education were forced to return to India. To prevent these students from losing their educational opportunities, the MUHS and Elsevier have made useful content available to them in a very short period of time "said the minister. "Because this course was developed as a stopgap measure, there will be no special benefits for students," said Amit Modi, a senior officer at Elsevier.
