Highlights
The Delhi government has set up Hobby Hubs for government schools in the city beyond school hours to boost extracurricular activities. This project will be conducted in a single-shift government elementary school. A proposal to construct 'Hobby Hubs' in government schools in Delhi incorporating after-school dancing, music, arts, and crafts programmes is in the works for the upcoming academic year. During the academic year 2022-2023, this project will only be implemented at single-shift government schools.
The purpose is to maximise school infrastructure by employing it outside of school hours to promote extracurricular activities. Schools will solicit the help of private institutions, people, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to provide free training in fields chosen by the schools. During these sessions, they will also be able to train and charge private pupils. Government school children, on the other hand, must account for 50% of all registered students, and no child from the concerned school will be denied access to hobby programmes hosted at their school.
