Description
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has named Arunabha Ghosh (India) to the High-Level Expert Group on Non-State Entities' Net-Zero Emissions Commitments. Arunabha Ghosh is the CEO of the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW), a climate and energy think tank. He has been selected to the Government of India's G20 Finance Track Advisory Group for India's G20 Presidency in 2023. For Indonesia's G20 presidency in 2022, he was named Co-Chair of the T20 Task Force on Climate and Energy.
On March 31, 2022, Antonio Guterres founded the group. Dr. Ghosh will be one of three Asians on the expert panel (and the only one from South Asia). The summit will be chaired by Catherine McKenna, a former Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change. The expert committee, which consists of 16 members, is made up of independent professionals from diverse countries. Develop more stringent and specific standards for non-state groups, such as businesses, investors, cities, and regions, to make net-zero emission pledges and implement them faster.
