Vikas Kumar has been chosen the next Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). He succeeds Mangu Singh, who was in office until March 31, 2022. Since January 1, 2012, Singh has served as the managing director of DMRC. His spectacular career, however, had come to an end.
Kumar is the DMRC's third managing director, following E Sreedharan and Mangu Singh. His term of service is for five years. Kumar, the DMRC's Director (Operations), has worked on rail-based urban transportation initiatives for over three decades. He worked for the Indian Railways in several capacities before joining the DMRC in September 2004. For more than 17 years, he has held senior managerial positions in the urban transportation company. Since 2007, Kumar has held the positions of general manager (operations), executive director (operations), and director (operations) at the DMRC (operations). He played a key role in ensuring the smooth launch of metro services in the Delhi-NCR area.
