The 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022 will be held at the SAI Indoor Training Centre, NEHU in Shillong from April 18 to 25. The world's largest table tennis competition is being held in the Northeast for the second time. During a press conference, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stated that the tournament is one of the most important sporting events the state has hosted to date, among others. According to the state, some 650 persons are expected to attend, with 450 of them being athletes and the rest being coaches and support personnel.
Several state executives, including Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister, are slated to visit the state, he stated. This tournament was staged to mark the state's 50th anniversary of independence, with a cost of 1.5 crore rupees projected to be spent on hosting the game, with a total of 10 players from the state expected to compete.
