After completing its inaugural voyage up and down the Yangtze River, the world's largest electric cruise ship has returned to Yichang, Hubei Province, China. A massive marine battery with a capacity of 7,500 kilowatt-hours powers this cruise liner. This battery was provided by Contemporary Amperex Technology, the world's leading battery manufacturer for electric vehicles.
The ship's designer, China Yangtze Power, plans to use the vessel as a springboard for boosting China's marine electric vehicle sector. The ship's name is Yangtze River Three Gorges 1, and it's a 100 percent electric cruise ship designed and built in China. With a passenger capacity of 1,300 people, this ship is 16 metres wide and 100 metres long.
