Highlights
Every year on April 2, the United Nations commemorates World Autism Awareness Day. The goal of this day is to promote awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder among individuals all over the world. The UN Departments of Global Communications and Economic and Social Affairs, as well as the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Specialisterne Foundation, and the Global Autism Project, are organising the day. "Inclusive Quality Education for All" is the theme for World Autism Awareness Day 2022.
This year's focus is on increasing Autistic people's access to education, as their education has been severely affected since the pandemic began owing to COVID-19.
The Day's History
On November 1, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly passed "World Autism Awareness Day," which was approved and put into reality on December 18, 2007. On April 2, 2008, the first World Autism Day was observed. This day was one of the seven UN days that were strictly observed in terms of health factors.
