Description
According to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval process handbook for 2022-23, physics, chemistry, and mathematics will no longer be required subjects for admission to undergraduate courses in architecture. Fashion technology and packaging technology are the other two courses that will not require PCM subjects in Class 12.
Last year, the technical education authority declared that students who did not study Physics, Chemistry, or Maths (PCM) in Class 12 would be permitted to apply for engineering and technology programmes, prompting a massive controversy.
"We formed an expert team to provide admissions suggestions on which courses PCM may be made optional. Three courses have been chosen based on the panel's recommendations: "According to a senior AICTE official.
Computer science, electronics, information technology, biology, informatics practises, biotechnology, technical vocational topic, agriculture, engineering graphics, business studies, and entrepreneurship are among the disciplines that are suitable for entrance to the three courses.
From the upcoming academic session 2022-23, the AICTE has also determined that two supernumerary seats per course will be earmarked for Covid-orphaned children covered under the 'PM CARES' scheme in all connected polytechnic institutes. Because institutes enrolling students under this condition can enhance their sanctioned intake capacity by two, the reserve of two seats per course will have no effect on other youngsters.
