Highlights

On March 28, 2022, Pramod Sawant was re-elected as Goa's Chief Minister for a second straight five-year term. Sawant led the BJP to 20 seats in the 40-member Goa Assembly in the just concluded 2022 Goa Assembly elections. Mr. Sawant was sworn in at the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee stadium near Panaji by Governor PS Sreedharan PillaiMr. Sawant is a medical practitioner who specialises in Ayurvedic medicine. He was sworn in as Chief Minister in March 2019 following the death of the outgoing Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar. Mr. Sawant represents Sanquelim in the legislaturePrime Minister Narendra Modi was there, as were Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, BJP national president JP Nadda, Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Arlekar, and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis.
