Description
K. Vijay Raghavan, the central government's top scientific adviser, will launch this park. This is a pilot project that will provide several waste management options, ranging from on-site compaction and trash treatment to semi-automated solid waste sorting. This park covers 1,000 square metres and has a daily solid waste treatment facility capacity of 10 tonnes.
Concerning the Waste Management Technology Park
Work on this initiative began in 2018 under the objective of "waste to riches." This project will sort municipal solid waste into several components for separate usage in a semi-automated way. The park has an area of 1,000 square metres. Previously, this area was utilised for rubbish collection and open dumping. A tonne of compostable elements may be recovered and transformed into manure, two tonnes of combustible garbage can be recovered and used to generate energy, and 1.5 tonnes of recyclable material can also be recovered through this park. The combustible garbage that will gather in this park will be treated on-site using a variety of technologies, with just 5 to 10% of inert material reaching landfills.
The several technologies that will be deployed in this park
In this park, five technologies have been tested, including Xaper, an indigenous semi-automated device that separates fresh municipal solid trash into recyclable parts. In this park, an IIT Delhi-built plasma pyrolysis device is employed for the thermal breakdown of carbonaceous waste into environmentally benign components. This park also makes use of a Danish technology known as Enviro-RISE R-A110. This technique will be utilised to collect all of the floating solid waste that will build in the 52-cusec drain that runs beside the site. The gasifier will be utilised for the gasification of municipal solid waste. The Johkasou sewage treatment facility has also been built to address the non-portable and operational water demands of this location.
