Banaras Hindu University (BHU) students shined once again at the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022, bringing the university acclaim. Mr Shatrughan Singh Choudhary, a student at the Institute of Science's Department of Geophysics, has been named India's top student, according to a press statement from BHU.

"Students from the Geophysics department performed remarkably well in GATE 2022, with Shatrughan Singh Choudhary achieving the 1 position in India," remarked Professor Rajeev Bhatla, Head, Department of Geophysics.

Mr. Choudhary is currently working as a research assistant at the Department of Geophysics' seismic imaging centre. Furthermore, this department is home to 15 of the top 50 rankholders. Students from BHU's Geophysics department took four of the top ten spots, according to the institution.

The GATE 2022 result was announced on March 17 by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, on the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in.
