Description
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to all Vice-Chancellors of central universities and colleges, requesting that CUET scores be used to admit students to undergraduate programmes. M Jagadesh Kumar, the chairperson of the UGC, announced on Monday that CUET results, not class 12 scores, will be required for admission to 45 central universities.
The minimal eligibility standards for central universities can be set by them. Mr Kumar tweeted on Sunday, "Today we have written to the VCs, Directors, and Principals of all Universities and Colleges to use CUET scores for admissions in their UG programmes because there is no need for students to worry about writing multiple entrance tests because with CUET in place there is no need for students to worry about writing multiple entrance tests."
The National Testing Agency has announced that the application procedure for the CUET for undergraduate courses in central institutions will begin on April 2. The CUET will provide a single-window option to students seeking admission to any central university in the country, according to a public notice released on Saturday. The CUET (UG) -2022 will be held in a computer-based test (CBT) mode, according to the announcement.
