Description
Highlights
On the 25th and 26th of March, the 73rd Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS) was held in Visakhapatnam. The three-day conference is being conducted at Vizag Conventions in Madhurawada and is being attended by experts from all across India and some from overseas. The previous national conference was held in Visakhapatnam 37 years ago. The emphasis would be on drug and alcohol addiction in society, stress among students, and the increasing frequency of suicides, depression and anxiety, old-age issues, and dementia.
Justice P. Laxmana Reddy, Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurates the national conference held by IPS, A.P. State branch, Government Hospital Mental Care, and Visakha Psychiatric Society.
Theme
The subject chosen for ANCIPS – 2022 was 'Bridging minds...Connecting generations,' which provided a timely glimpse into the rising age divide and its influence on society. The number of elderly persons has grown over time, and the significant disparities in age, beliefs, customs, and habits contribute to communication issues between generations. The advantages of promoting relationships between young people and older residents were enormous and helpful to society as a whole.
