BYJU'S is the first Indian company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup"It is a source of pride for us to represent India on such a prominent global platform and support the convergence of education and sport," said BYJU founder and CEO Byju Raveendran in a statement. "We are happy to be connected with a brand like BYJU'S, which is also engaging communities and inspiring young people wherever they may be in the globe," said Kay Madati, FIFA's Chief Commercial Officer.

The Importance of BYJU's FIFA Agreement

This would make BYJU'S the world's first EdTech brand to sponsor the FIFA World Cup. It is also the first Indian company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The statement follows FIFA's March 22nd revelation that it had entered into a sponsorship partnership with Singapore-based Crypto.com for the World Cup.

2022 FIFA World Cup

From November 21 to December 18, 2022, Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup. This will be the first FIFA World Cup held by an Arab country, and the second in Asia following the 2002 FIFA World Cup. The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be the final edition to include 32 teams, since the number of teams will grow to 48 in the following event.

Sponsor of BYJU's Indian Team

BYJU'S is a worldwide educational technology firm situated in Bangalore, India. Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath launched it in 2011. BYJU'S also sponsors the Indian national cricket team's shirt. In September 2019, BYJU'S took over as the Indian team's shirt sponsor from Oppo. The deal between the Byjus and the BCCI includes payments of Rs 4.61 crore for a bilateral game and Rs 1.56 crore for an international game. In March 2022, the BCCI opted to prolong Byju's shirt sponsorship of the Indian squad. The sponsorship agreement was supposed to end following the India-Sri Lanka series, which included three T20Is and two Tests.
