Description
The next SciTech lecture series for school students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will take place on March 26. Professor Kusuma of IIT Delhi's Kusuma School of Biological Sciences will deliver the talk. Professor Manidipa Banerjee will give a high school lecture titled "Virus vs Host: Nanoscale Warfare." Students will be able to learn about 'what do viruses look like?' throughout the lecture. In spite of our immune systems, how do they infect human cells? Vaccines defend against viral infections in what ways? What processes are used to create new viral strains? Why can't virus-fighting medications be created quickly?' The ceremony will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of IIT Delhi.
Students in classes 9 to 12 will benefit from IIT Delhi's SciTech Spins lecture series, which is an academic outreach project. Schools can contact Associate Dean, Academic Outreach & New Initiatives, IIT Delhi (adoni@iitd.ac.in; acadoutreach@iitd.ac.in) to nominate students for the SciTech Spins lecture series. All enrolled students who attend the lecture and are nominated by their respective schools receive e-certificates from the Institute.
"As we enter the third year of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to consider the nature and functions of viruses, which make them such destructive nanomachines capable of interrupting all human operations and causing significant damage." "I will highlight the main aspects in virus-host interaction at the molecular or nano-level at the SciTech Spins lecture for school pupils," Professor Ms Banerjee said.
