Overview
The DAC has also granted approval for a streamlined and simpler approach to expedite procurement from MSMEs and iDEX start-ups. The procurement cycle will be 22 weeks under the new approach. Appropriate incorporations will be made in the 2022 Defence Acquisition Procedure. The DAC also gave its approval for the procedure to be simplified for projects in the Make-II category. This will aid in reducing the time it takes for prototypes to be produced to contract signature in Make-II initiatives. The DAC also granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for Capital Acquisition for the Armed Forces in the sum of Rs 8,357 crore.
According to the DAC, the armed services will seek to purchase all of their required requirements domestically, with imports occurring only in extraordinary circumstances. Light Vehicles GS 4X4, Night Sight (Image Intensifier), GSAT 7B Satellite and Air Defence Fire Control Radar (Light) will be purchased under the AoN for Capital Acquisition agreement.
How many things are expected to be purchased before the end of the year?
After the iDEX start-ups successfully prototype them, approximately 25 to 40 items will be ready for procurement by the end of the year.
