Description
Martyrs' Day is another name for Shaheed Diwas. This day commemorates the bravery of freedom fighters who gave their lives for the sake of the nation. On this day in 1931, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru were hung by the British, who ruled India at the time. Shaheed Diwas is commemorated on a number of dates in India. Along with the 23rd of March, the 30th of January commemorates the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. On this day, people all around the country pay their respects to the freedom warriors who gave their lives for the sake of the country. The battle of the liberation warriors to safeguard and uphold the country's honour also serves as inspiration. Several ceremonies have been planned by the national and state governments to honour leaders of the Indian independence fight.
This day's history
Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev joined the national liberation movement. They intended to revenge the killing of Lala Lajpat Rai. The three revolutionaries were arrested on a variety of crimes, including the murder of John Saunders, a British police officer, in 1928. Their major objective was James Scott, the Superintendent of Police, who had given his troops the order to lathi-charge demonstrators, resulting in Lala Lajpat Rai's murder.
