Berdimuhamedow follows his father and predecessor, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who assumed office in 2006 and served until 2022.
It is worth noting that Turkmenistan has presidential elections every seven years. With 72.97 percent of the vote, Serdar Berdymukhamedov was elected president of the gas-rich country.
Turkmenistan's capital is Ashgabat, and the Turkmen manat is the country's currency.
