Some private schools have requested the Central Board of Secondary Education to reduce the weightage of the Term I examination for the 2021-2022 session, claiming that many institutions used "unfair means and malpractices" while grading students during Term 1 examinations.
National Progressive Schools' Conference (NPSC) requested in a letter to CBSE Chairperson Vineet Joshi that the weightage of the Term I Examination be reduced by 20% to 30%, while the weightage of the Term II Examination be increased by 70% to 80%.
The letter comes just days after CBSE released the Class 10 and 12 Term 1 results. "Many schools were spotted using unfair techniques and malpractices during the Term I tests, which were held in home centres. As a result, many students from these schools received full grades in the majority of their disciplines. We are confident that CBSE received comparable input on this subject "the letter stated.
The NPSC, which is an association of senior secondary schools across the country with 195 private schools under its umbrella, claimed that the performance of students at schools where "exams were conducted with complete honesty and integrity" was "not at par with the aforesaid," which had a negative impact on the morale of all stakeholders.
The weightage of Term-I and Term-II exams will be determined when the Term-II results are released, and ultimate performance will be calculated accordingly, according to the board.
