During a news conference on Tuesday, March 22, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revealed that the Delhi government has decided to name the Armed Forces Preparatory School after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Kejriwal tweeted, "Delhi's Sainik School will be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh."
The Armed Forces Preparatory School (AFPS) will open in Jharoda Kalan on a 14-acre site with state-of-the-art facilities.
"It was on March 23 (in 1931) that Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were hanged to death," the chief minister stated on the eve of Bhagat Singh's death anniversary.
We stated on December 20, 2021, that Delhi would have a school where kids would be trained for the armed services. In an online briefing, he announced the institution would be named Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School.
According to the chief minister, it will be a residential school with no fees for pupils. "Students will be admitted to classes 9 and 11. There will be 200 seats available, with 100 seats in each class. For the 200 spots available, we have already received 18,000 applications "he stated
For entrance to Class 9, an aptitude test will be held on March 27. The enrolment test for class 11 will be held the following day. Interviews will be held in the second phase, he said. He stated that the pupils will be taught by retired army, navy, and air force officers.
