The government said on Monday that institutions from France and Italy have showed interest in establishing educational institutes in India.
"The Ministry of External Affairs has notified that the French side has showed interest in building up a university campus for higher education courses in India," Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
"Furthermore, Istituto Marangoni (Italy) expressed interest in establishing a foreign, fully-independent Higher Education Institute of Fashion and Design in India," he added in his response. Foreign universities and institutions will be allowed to offer courses in Financial Management, FinTech, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-city (GIFT) in Gandhinagar, free of domestic regulations, except those imposed by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), to facilitate the availability of high-end human resources for financial services and tec.
