Overview

The goal of AquaMAP is to give answers to water-related concerns by using smart water management methods. Water management methods will also be adopted in a variety of industries across the country, and they will serve as scalable models for novel management technology. AquaMAP is a national water centre in which IIT Madras collaborates with IIT Dharwad on the broad topic of "Data Science for Water Security and Agriculture Sustenance."

AquaMAP's Goal

AquaMAP's goals are as follows:

The capacity to handle complicated real-world water challenges through a collaborative manner. It aspires to be recognised as a company that can provide solutions with a wide range of applications and a broad effect. It intends to conduct pilot studies in at least six water innovation villages or towns, which will subsequently be displayed as examples for policy implementation and water management across India. It will also seek to address at least three chronic water concerns through several Grand Challenges and their subsequent translation into pilot initiatives. This project will also include the establishment of a cutting-edge Hydro-Informatics Laboratory. A model for community and alumni engagement will also be developed.

AquaMAP Group

AquaMAP's chief investigator is Ligy Philip, who is also the dean (planning) at IIT Madras. Ligy Philip will be assisted by 20 academic members working on water-related challenges from disciplines as diverse as Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences. AquaMAP will also include a governing body chaired by the director of IIT Madras, as well as an advisory board comprised of many eminent people in the fields of water technology, policy, and management.
