As cases in the Northeastern state continued to decline on Thursday, the Mizoram government allowed schools and colleges to reopen, easing COVID-related restrictions. The government announced in a new set of guidelines that schools and hostels will reopen for all classes beginning with the new academic session on April 5.
The School Education Department's standard operating procedure (SOP) must be strictly followed in all schools and hostels, it stated.
Colleges for students in the last semester will reopen immediately, while offline classes for students in other semesters will be permitted beginning in July for the new academic session.
PhD students in Mizoram University's Department of Horticulture, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (HAMP) are now permitted to attend courses for course work, according to the university.
All places of worship were also allowed to remain open during the day and evening hours by the government. There was no longer a limit on the number of people that could attend. It also stated that churches are permitted to convene general conferences or assemblies, as well as prohibiting communal feasts during worship sessions.
The state government announced on Monday that the'mPASS,' a two-year-old required travel pass for people entering the state, will be phased out. The necessity for cars carrying goods and commodities to register on mcovid19.mizoram.gov.in has also been removed.
