Due to by-elections in the Asansol Lok Sabha seat and the Ballygunge assembly constituency, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warned on Wednesday that the state's Higher Secondary Examinations would be rescheduled. Class 12 board exams will be held from April 2 to 26, with by-polls on April 12 and votes counted on April 16.
"Higher Secondary Exams are approaching, yet by-elections are taking place at the same time. There is a chance that the examination dates will change. Let's see, I'll have a conversation about it "During an interaction with 391 students who had recently returned from the war-torn Ukraine, Ms Banerjee stated.
The TMC has nominated Shatrughan Sinha for the Asansol seat and Babul Supriyo for the Ballygunge seat. The CPI(M) has appointed Saira Shah Halim as MP for Ballygunge and Partha Mukherjee as MP for Asansol. The BJP has not yet announced its candidates.
In the Asansol constituency, a bypoll was required after Babul Supriyo resigned as the BJP's MP after joining the TMC. By-elections will be held for the Ballygunge seat after incumbent MLA and state minister Subrata Mukherjee died in November last year.
