Highlights
The FIFA World Cup 2022 is the 22nd edition of the quadrennial international men's football tournament, which will be competed for by national teams from FIFA member countries. It will take place in Qatar between November 21 and December 18, 2022. The 2002 event was played in South Korea and Japan, this was the first World Cup staged entirely in the Arab world and likely to be second World Cup held entirely in Asia.
Furthermore, the tournament will be the last to feature 32 teams, with a 48-team tournament scheduled for the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026. France currently has the World Cup title. Because of the extreme heat in Qatar during the summer, the World Cup is held from late November to mid-December, making it the first championship not to be hosted in May, June, or July; it'll be played over a shorter period, roughly 28 days. Before finishing the qualifying, the final draw will be place on April 1, 2022, in Doha, Qatar.
