Description
On March 16, 2022, Google Doodle commemorated the 200th birthday of French painter Rosa Bonheur. Rosa Bonheur was born on March 16, 1822 in Bordeaux, France.
The French artist mostly painted animals, with some of her most well-known pieces including 'The Horse Fair' and 'Ploughing in the Nivernais.' She was a well-known female painter of the nineteenth century. She died in 1899, at the age of 77, in Thomery, France.
Google depicted the French painter, clad in a blue shirt, sitting under a tree overlooking a stretch of green with a flock of sheep in an artful Doodle. The artist is seen drawing the animals with a sketchpad in her hand. The Google Doodle perfectly resonates with her style of painting
Rosa Bonheur, who was she?
Rosa Bonheur's creative tendencies were inherited from her father, a modest landscape painter. Rosa Bonheur's paintings influenced a whole new generation of female painters. She mainly painted animals, first sketching them and then painting them on canvas. In the 1840s, she established herself as an animal painter and sculptor with a realistic approach. Between 1841 and 1853, her paintings were displayed at the famed Paris Salon.
