Governor R N Ravi told Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday that the anti-NEET Bill, which was just passed by the state Assembly, will be transferred to the Centre for Presidential assent. Mr Stalin met with Mr Ravi at the Raj Bhavan here and asked him to send the Bill to exempt Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility and Entrance Test as soon as possible, according to an official release.
On February 8, the Tamil Nadu Assembly passed the anti-NEET Bill for the second time and forwarded it to Raj Bhavan for Presidential approval. Governor Ravi returned the previous anti-NEET Bill, passed by the DMK regime on September 13, 2021, to the government after 142 days. The anti-NEET Bill should be transmitted to the Centre as soon as possible, the Chief Minister said in his meeting with the Governor, because admission to medical institutions for the 2022-23 academic year is slated to begin soon.
Mr Stalin also urged Governor Ravi to move quickly on other bills passed by the Assembly and other matters that have been waiting for months. Mr Stalin stressed out to Mr Ravi that swift action on such measures that needed his approval would protect the Assembly's dignity and respect the views of the Tamil Nadu people, according to the administration.
