Low attendance marked the first day of physical classes for final-year undergraduate courses at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), with most outstation students still waiting to return to the city.
Physical classes for final-year students in about 60 undergraduate courses at the central university resumed on Tuesday. According to JMI officials, approximately 20 to 25% of pupils attended physical education lessons on the first day.
According to the officials, the lukewarm response to the reopening could be owing to the forthcoming festival vacations.
"On the first day of the resumption of classes, around 20% to 25% of pupils appeared. This could be due to the upcoming long weekend, which coincides with the Holi holiday "According to Ahmed Azeem, a spokeswoman for the JMI. The majority of the pupils that attended the classes were locals.
The outstation pupils, according to Mr Azeem, have yet to return to the city. He stated that the institution anticipates a rise in attendance beginning Monday. "From next week, we expect the outstation students to return to the university." Students were eager to return to school, but the low attendance rate caught them off guard.
"I'm planning to return to college." However, the attendance was disappointing. "My class was supposed to have 60 students, but only about 25 showed up," said Mohd Akram, a third-year Arabic student. Amjad, another student, was overjoyed to be back in class after such a long absence. "It's great to be back at the university."
