For lateral admission to engineering programmes, the AICTE has clarified that Bachelor of Vocation courses will be treated on par with a diploma in engineering or a BSc degree.
In an official ruling, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) stated, "BVoc programme is treated at par with Diploma in Engineering and BSc degree for the purpose of admission in BTech or BE programme through lateral entry."
A candidate must have passed a minimum three-year diploma examination in any discipline of engineering and technology to be admitted to BTech and BE programmes through lateral entry to second year, according to the council.
According to the AICTE, a BSc degree from a recognised university and passing the class 12 examination with mathematics as a subject are also required.
